About Blusens
Blusens Limited is an independent engineering consultancy founded in 2014 to help climate‑tech and IoT ventures build solid connected hardware. We specialise in the messy middle between “idea on a whiteboard” and “certified, mass‑produced device in the field”.
Background
Blusens was founded by an engineer with a BEng in Electronic & Communications Engineering (Brunel University) who progressed to Head of Engineering, and as CTO of an early‑stage hardware startup and participation in a Royal Academy leadership programme.
Since 2015 we’ve been embedded within a leading climate‑tech ecosystem, supporting multiple ventures as an external hardware and connectivity partner.
Track record
Across several programmes we have:
- Identified and fixed critical RF and grounding issues in existing designs.
- Designed a modular hardware solution for a 60‑device Innovate UK trial, delivering data on time.
- Developed a custom connectivity platform (cellular + Wi‑Fi) that evolved into a production system still in use.
- Taken hardware through EMC testing at multiple labs and iterated designs to achieve compliance.
- Scaled from small European PCB runs (100–2,000 units) to high‑volume manufacture in Asia.
- Supported manufacturing of 40k+ units, with around 30k devices deployed in real buildings.
